Main Working Model:
One of the basic messages of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is that what we think and do affects the way we feel. Sometimes, through no fault of our own, we get ‘stuck’ in vicious cycles: things we do to try and solve a problem can inadvertently keep it going. CBT is about -finding out what is keeping us ‘stuck’ and making changes in our thinking and actions in order to improve the way we feel both physically and emotionally. Whilst we mainly focus on current issues in CBT, I may also be able to work with you to help link how some of your past experiences may be impacting on your day to day experiences and relationships.
How I Work:
During an initial assessment, we will agree an initial number of sessions and work together to agree short, medium and long term SMART goals to establish a focus for your therapy. These will be regularly reviewed. CBT is a collaborative therapy and research has shown that people who agree to complete a task between sessions make more lasting changes. We will agree this task together and it is my job to make sure it is manageable for you.
