Bishop Brian Castle - Trustee

Bishop Brian has been Bishop of Tonbridge since 2002. He works with the Bishop of Rochester, sharing his Episcopal oversight of the Diocese of Rochester He was born and educated in London, graduating from University College London with a degree in Classics. He has spent time as a Social Worker in London and teaching in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Brian was curate at two parishes in the UK before serving as a parish priest in Chingola in the Diocese of Northern Zambia from 1981 to 1984. He moved from there to be a lecturer at Bossey, the Ecumenical Institute of the World Council of Churches, in Geneva and then, in 1985, he was appointed Vicar of North Petherton with Northmoor Green in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Bishop Brian has written articles for theological journals, church and national newspapers and has published four books. Brian is married to Jane. They have three adult children. Brian lists his hobbies as fly-fishing, cross-country skiing and photography.
