What type of inpatient care does Burrswood provide?

Patients staying on our reablement unit come to us for a variety of reasons. They may have come straight from hospital following surgery or a medical admission, such as pneumonia or other infections. They maybe getting over a relapse of a chronic illness or a fall. They may have had an accident or need rehabilitation after a stroke assessment.  All our patients are medically fit in that they do not need the oversight of a doctor, but they do require nurse and therapy care in order to regain their independence.

Those staying on our reablement unit will receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hydrotherapy as needed.

We also offer counselling, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy on an outpatient basis.

How do I book?

Please call reservations on 01892 865988 to discuss requirements. You don’t need referral but your doctor will need to fill in our form.


Do I need private medical insurance to be treated?

No, Burrswood is open to everyone. You don’t need private medical insurance to come – you can pay for any of our care packages yourself, though those with medical insurance may be able to claim from their insurers.


What options do I have for paying?

Patients pay in full at the end of the stay. If you have private medical insurance, speak to your provider as to whether you are covered for therapy treatments or reablement stays. If you do have private medical insurance and your provider has agreed to pay for your care, we will need an authorisation code before your treatment commences. 

How much will it cost?

Rehabilitation on our reablement unit costs £295 per night and is inclusive of all meals and therapies.  We also offer a variety of health and wellbeing packages priced in relation to how much care is involved.

When can I be treated?

Rooms are usually available within a few days.


Will I have a private room?

Yes, we have a variety of flexible patient rooms with a telephone and TV, WIFI and private bathrooms.


How long can I stay?

Patients usually stay for between 5 and 14 nights. We work with patients to ensure an optimum length of stay, taking account of their clinical condition whilst also ensuring a safe discharge, particularly for those returning home alone.


Can I park easily at Burrswood?

There is ample free parking at Burrswood.

The conference car park is the largest car park and is accessed from the front drive from where it is a short walk to reception.

A smaller upper car park and cafe car park is available closer to the Burrswood buildings. And a few spaces (and disabled spaces) are available outside reception.

Can the NHS pay for my treatment?

The NHS do refer patients to Burrswood for rehabilitation but this is on a needs basis when wards are over capacity in local hospitals. Patients who chose to have rehabilitation at Burrswood would need to pay for their own care.


Are your healthcare facilities registered with the appropriate authority?

Burrswood Health and Wellbeing is registered to provide services by the Care Quality Commission (Provider ID: 0000026155). How do I raise a concern or make a formal complaint?

What type of counselling is offered at Burrswood?

Counselling is offered on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. In addition, a telephone counselling service is also available.

Is smoking allowed at Burrswood?

 In line with current legislation, Burrswood operates a ‘No Smoking’ policy throughout the buildings, including bedrooms and all communal areas. This includes the use of electronic cigarettes. There are designated smoking areas within the grounds. 

What is your cancellation policy?

Sometimes your plans have to change. Here’s what happens if they do:

Burrswood Health and Wellbeing reserves the right to apply cancellation fees.  If you wish to cancel your Wellbeing Activity booking, we may refund a proportion of the fees paid by you. The amount we refund depends on how soon we receive your request to cancel prior to the date your booking was due to start. The amount we retain represents the reasonable cost to us of a cancelled booking.  We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction.

Between 1 month and 2 weeks before your booking starts:        We will refund 50% of the fees paid to us

Between 2 weeks and 1 week before your booking starts:           We will refund 25% of the fees paid to us

Later than 1 week before your booking starts                                    No refund
