Refurbishment of the Church of Christ the Healer
Thanks to the wonderful generosity of a number of our supporters, I am thrilled to announce that our wonderful Church is to have its long-awaited facelift.
The Church will be closed Monday to Friday from 28th April for about 10 weeks, but we intend to hold our weekend services as usual (albeit in an unadorned Church).
The work will involve complete re-wiring and re-decoration with improvements to the PA system. Our focus will be one of preservation, making sensitive changes where this is a requirement or is appropriate. The paintings will be carefully cleaned and restored, the original lighting will be restored, improvements made to the organ and most of the ornaments will be repaired.
In time, as funds permit, we hope to replace the carpet, put padded cushions on all the pews and install a projection facility.
We expect to re-open the Church on Monday 7th July.
Our main Healing Service, which takes place at 11.30 am on Thursdays will be moved to Chapel House Drawing Room and we will do our utmost to ensure that the disruption to our normal rhythm of Ministry is kept to a minimum. Wheelchairs are able to access the drawing room via the lift in St Faith's hospital wing.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that this work will inevitably cause. Dr Gareth Tuckwell, Chief executive
