Hydrotherapy for Rheumatoid conditions and osteoarthritis

We are seeing clear benefits from early advice, treatment and education for patients with rheumatoid conditions and osteoarthritis.  Using the effect of buoyancy and resistance of the water in the hydrotherapy pool is very beneficial and prevents unnecessary atrophy of muscle groups and loss of joint range of movement.

Appointments with our team of 7 physiotherapists/hydrotherapists can be booked on 01892 865989.  Patients can book on an inpatient or outpatient basis.  Read more …

Individualized Inpatient Care at Burrswood – beds often available at short notice

Within a framework of medical expertise and inter-disciplinary treatment, Burrswood patients experience care that centres on them; the team accepts them for who they are and believes in them as individuals. They feel heard, and enjoy the time and space they need to recover.

Professional, quality care which helps people feel safe, and which involves them in their own treatment, fosters recovery in every sense.  Read more

Affordable Counselling

At Burrswood we know it can be helpful to talk and given the current economic climate we are keen to offer counselling at reasonable rates.

For this reason our standard charge of £39.50* per session has once again been held.

For those of limited means, counselling is now available at considerably lower rates (subject to a means-tested application).   Call 01892 865990 for more details or click here.

* Conditions apply. Full fees are £39.50 in-person / £43 telephone counselling. Lowest-rate sessions are in-person and subject to availability on certain weekdays and evenings. Please ask for details.

Fast Track Admissions

For same-day admissions, the referring doctor needs to call 01892 863637 before 2pm and ask to speak to the duty physician. Every effort will be made to provide a bed in our hospital that day, when the need for urgent admission is clear and there is a bed available.  See our website for full details.

Expansion to the Hospital

In July 2009 the conversion of Chapel House, Dorothy Kerin’s former home, to hospital accommodation was completed, which, together with our existing facility, now provides a total of 40 individual rooms, three of which will have sufficient space to allow a relative to stay. The great majority of these rooms have en suite facilities. The project, although completed, continues to be the subject of a capital appeal to raise funds for this vital expansion scheme which enables Burrswood to satisfy increasing demand for our very special care.

Following our philosophy of providing the highest standard of clinical care within a comfortable environment, patients in Chapel House are welcomed on arrival by one of our trained nurses  and enjoy the comfort of elegantly furnished rooms, all with nurse call, direct dial telephone, internet access and flat screen televisions. All rooms provide our patients with lovely views of the extensive gardens, where there is a small private terrace and all comply with the requirements of our regulatory body, the Care Quality Commission.

Our Guest House, within the original 1834 Decimus Burton House, has been fully refurbished and re-opened in March 2010.
