Sports Injuries

Injuries through sport can occur at any age. Most commonly, the Achilles tendon and calf muscle, the hamstrings or quadriceps muscles and the rotator cuff muscles surrounding the shoulder.

Sports injuries benefit from early treatment. After a sporting or soft tissue injury physiotherapy helps to restore function. Physiotherapy is targeted at controlling swelling and pain caused by strains and sprains, helping to minimise chance of re-injury and speed your return to previous levels of activity.

Treatment often follows the RICE regime (rest, ice, compression & elevation). Once tolerated, use specific soft tissue mobilisations may be used to encourage normal tissue alignment; electrotherapy; stretching, strengthening or Acupuncture. Our whole person approach to care means we will collaborate with you to design a treatment programme suited to your specific needs.
