- Stress in relation to work, life transitions and specific crises
- Bereavement and loss
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Childhood and adult trauma
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Chronic illnesses eg CFS / ME
- Depression and anxiety
Taking the first step towards Weekly Counselling
If you live locally and want to discuss an issue that you feel may benefit from counselling:
- Telephone us on 01892 863637 to arrange an initial appointment. This will help you to decide if you want to proceed with a full counselling programme, you are under no obligation - it will also help us to evaluate your needs.
- Consultations will normally last 50 minutes and following your first visit and by mutual agreement, a series of weekly appointments will be arranged, either short or long term.
- The cost is £37.50 per session and for those of limited means, we invite you to apply for Care Grant assistance to help defray this cost. Counselling for couples costs £50.00 (per couple) for a 50 minute session.
- There are dedicated, purpose built counselling rooms in St Peters (Outpatients Department) and they are comfortably furnished to provide a reassuring, confidential environment.
- In addition to self-referrals, we invite referrals from the caring professions such as your own GP or Church Minister.
Also available:
- Counselling supervision;
- Training seminars for local counsellors;
- Group work.
Taking the first step towards Residential Counselling
A percentage of Burrswood Hospital beds in individual rooms are set aside exclusively for counselling and stays are normally for 2 weeks to allow for short-term intensive therapy.
- Telephone Admissions on 01892 863818 who will provide you with an admission pack and advise about Care Grants.
- Counselling in this context allows emotionally charged personal stories to surface and to be held safely within our multidisciplinary care team which includes doctors, nurses counsellors, physiotherapists and chaplains.
- Burrswood Residential Counselling can be a powerful boost to ongoing counselling and can work effectively alongside long-term therapy.
- Shared confidentiality is our normal practice and for this we seek informed consent.
- We aim to liaise closely with professionals from the home environment, GP's counsellors etc, so that there is a smooth transition of care.
