fundraising for Burrswood

Why do we need to fundraise?

As a registered charity Burrswood hospital does not receive any direct government funding. It relies on income from fees, donations, profits from its trading activities and fundraising initiatives.

This income is used to:

  • Sustain the Access to Care Fund
  • Support specific capital projects
  • Develop the Mission of Burrswood

Choral Society Concert
Over 40 members of Paddock Wood Choral Society gave a wonderful concert in the Church of Christ the Healer at Burrswood. The programme of music included  excerpts from John Rutter’s Requiem and Handel’s Zadok the Priest sung by the choir, along with items from talented young instrumental soloists from Tonbridge Grammar School and close harmony singing group ‘Cinque’. The evening raised in the region of £1,000. Head of Fundraising, Helen Winning, said “We are so grateful to the Paddock Wood choir for putting on this concert for us. The audience were delighted by the range of pieces that were performed and the standard of the singing.”

Westminster Abbey
Our Prayer Pilgrimage to Westminster Abbey was a memorable and moving experience. All those attending were full of praise for the wonderful combination of historical detail and spiritual input given by our guides. It was a real privilege to pray in the Abbey’s sacred places, and a special treat to be allowed to visit the Florence Nightingale Chapel. The service of Compline was a wonderful end to the tour; so atmospheric in St Faith’s Chapel by candlelight.  Afterwards we retired to the Cellarium for a delicious supper where the food was excellent and the service very friendly.

Bark for Burrswood
Dogs of all shapes and sizes took part in Burrswood’s first 5k sponsored dog walk. More than 75 dogs, along with numerous friends and family, enjoyed a beautiful scenic walk around the Burrswood estate and over the surrounding fields and footpaths with many commenting on the stunning views over Groombridge and Ashurst. The event was organised in conjunction with Pets as Therapy (an organisation which brings pets to visit patients whilst in hospital) and every dog took home a “doggy bag” of treats kindly donated by local pet shops.  Funds were raised for both charities, and the day was such a success that we will definitely repeat it next year.

Charity of the Year 2013

We are delighted that Lamberhurst Golf Club has chosen Burrswood as its Charity of the Year for 2013, thanks to the support of Veterans Captain, Charles Turner.

How do we fundraise?

We hold various events throughout the year such as concerts, fairs, auctions, dinners, golf days and many more.

In the local community we work with fundraising groups in schools and churches, encouraging people to hold coffee mornings, table top sales and sponsored events.

We approach grant-making Trusts whose focus matches well with our mission and purpose.

We are also developing relationships with corporate organisations to support Burrswood as their 'chosen charity' and maximise their CSR policies.

Please contact Fundraising on 01892 865985 for more information.
