What kind of Hospital is Burrswood?
Burrswood is a 40 bed hospital providing excellent non-surgical medical care in a Christian environment.  We provide in-patient medical and nursing care, with integrated counselling and physiotherapy, and input from chaplains and support staff. What type of in-patient care does Burrswood provide?
Step Down Care for patients coming straight from hospital following surgery or a medical admission, such as pneumonia or other infections
Intensive Rehabilitation – for those needing a longer period of rehabilitation such as after an acute stroke assessment.
Respite care – for those that need nursing/medical care – this can be on an independent, assisted or dependent basis depending on the level of dependency.
End of Life Care
Care and Counselling – offered on an in patient and out patient basis
Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy – offered on an in patient and out patient basis

How do I book?
Please call admissions on 01892 865988 to discuss requirements.  You don’t need referral but your doctor will need to fill in our form.

Do I need private medical insurance to be treated?
No, Burrswood is open to everyone. You don’t need private medical insurance to come – you can pay for any of our care packages yourself, though those with medical insurance may be able to claim from their insurers.

What options do I have for paying?
Patients can pay in full at the end of your stay or spread over six months on an interest free basis.  As a charity, we also have a bursary scheme for patients of limited financial means.  Please ask for an application form when speaking to admissions.

How much will it cost?
Burrswood offers a wide variety of care packages which are priced in accordance to the level of care involved.  Our prices are all-inclusive of accommodation and meal costs, medical and nursing care, dressings, basic laundry and most special diets.  Where appropriate, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and counselling costs are also included.

When can I be treated?
Rooms are usually available within a few days.

Will I have a private room?
Yes, we have 40 patient rooms most of which have a telephone and TV, and private bathrooms.

How long can I stay?
Patients usually stay for between 5 and 14 nights.  (Our minimum stay is usually 5 nights).  We work with patients to ensure an optimum length of stay in our hospital, taking account of their clinical condition whilst also ensuring a safe discharge, particularly for those returning home alone.  Burrswood does offer both short and long term palliative care.

Can the NHS pay for my treatment?
No – there are exceptions but you would need to discuss this with your Doctor.

Are your healthcare facilities registered with the appropriate authority?
Burrswood is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Care Standards Act 2000, amended by the Health & Social Care Act 2003 and comply with the Private & Voluntary Health Care (England) Regulations 2001.
Our hospitals and facilities are subject to periodic inspection by the Commission including un-announced visits and the outcomes of these inspections are published on the Commission(s) website.

We take your satisfaction seriously and we regularly review feedback to make sure your experience is constantly improving. If you do need to raise a concern or make a formal complaint, you can feel free to talk to us. No matter who you talk to, we will take action to resolve your issue.
