Swimming at Burrswood is relaxing and fun. We have a long-held excellent reputation for teaching children and adults to swim.
Lessons are held in the warm, secure environment of our 1 metre deep hydrotherapy pool overlooking beautiful gardens.
The water is held at a constant temperature of 92F – comfortable for even the youngest babies.
Lesson groups at Burrswood are small – up to 4 for pre-school and adult lessons and 6 in a class for older children.
Our enthusiastic teachers all hold the Amateur Swimming Association level II full teacher's qualification and Rescue Test and enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.
Pupils are taught confidence and safety in the water. Lessons are arranged so that pupils smoothly through the ASA National Teaching Plan, from total beginners using armbands, through to pre-school and water skills awards, whilst building up stamina with the distance awards.
Parent & Babies
For parents with their babies and children (aged from 4 months to 2 1/2). These are not formal lessons and there is no instructor present - it is just a time to gain confidence and enjoy the water together.
1/2 hour sessions are available on a "drop in" basis on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9.30 am "first come, first served"
Cost per session: £6.50 (1 adult & child) payable on entry.
Waterbabes
These popular lessons for parent and child (for children aged from 4 months to 3 1/2), are taught by a qualified (parent & child) ASA instructor to help you and your child to be safe and confident in the water whilst enjoying learning new skills. These lessons are full of fun and games and an excellent introduction to water and swimming.
Maximum number per class: 6
25 minute lessons booked a term at a time.

Pre-School Classes
These are for children aged 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years who are ready to be in the water without a parent. The children gain confidence and learn basic safety and waters skills through the ASA award schemes.

After-School Classes
These lessons are for children from 4 years upwards who are full-time at school. The children follow the ASA Award programme from beginners upwards, learning water skills and safety, alongside the distance awards.

Saturday Swim Classes
These lessons are for children 3 1/2 years upwards. The children gain water confidence and basic safety. They progress from beginners upwards through the ASA Awards learning water skills and safety alongside distance awards.

Adults at Burrswood
Our extremely popular programmes of adult lessons are designed to promote confidence in the water and to be relaxing and good fun. These lessons are especially suited to those who wish to improve their skills or who have never learned to swim but feel now is the time to have a go!
Maximum number of people per class: 4
1/2 hour lessons afternoons & evenings, booked a term at a time.

Summer Swim Courses 2008
The Summer Swim Course is suitable for children between the ages of 4-8. Lessons are ideal for beginners & improvers. Stroke technique lessons are also available. Each lesson has a maximum of six children per lesson and lasts 1/2 hour. They are held between 3.00pm - 6.00pm for 5 days (Mon-Fri).
Lessons are booked on a first come first served basis.
